Difference between the Pigment Ink And Dye Ink And How to Choose Them

Hi, Nice to see you. In the last article I have shared you some tips that you should pay attention to when use the sticky sublimation paper. The usage of the sticky sublimation paper is just use the dye sublimation in to print the patterns onto the paper. While in the digital inkjet printing process, there are many different ink for printing such as the  aqueous inks, solvent inks, eco-solvent inks, latex inks and UV-curable inks.  With so many different inks, you much have a good choice so that you can make your printing effect getting better and save your cost, avoid the waste.

Today I will share you the difference between the dye ink and the pigment ink. Tell you the difference between them and the different advantages and disadvantages from the different side.
Service Life
When consider the service life of the ink, I suggest you choose the pigment ink for printing.Pigment inks are much more durable than dye sublimation inks. Those pigments that that fade after a short period of time are referred to as “fugitive colors”. While pigments are viewed a producing less vibrant images, improvements in ink technology has expanded the color gamut.

Application
Mostly, the pigment inks are used to print on slicker surfaces, such as the transparencies and stickers. This ink may also more expensive to produce than the dye ink while the colors are not vivid as the dye inks. So consider with your fabric for printing if you want your patterns printed with a long service life you should better choose the pigment ink.

Color Effect
If you want your patterns printed with a good color effect you should better choose the dye ink for printing. One of the biggest advantage of the dye ink is that it has vivid and brilliant color. For this reason, these dye inks were selected for indoor applications, such as P.O.P. posters and displays and photographic prints. So same as before , it also has its disadvantage that sacrificed durability. While fade resistance has improved greatly with new color formulations, the more vibrant dye-based inks generally exhibit a much lower resistance to UV light.
